This year, I have been experimenting and re-evaluating different areas of Meredith Green Photography: the art of being a family photographer, the business, and my time and direction. And as the year closes, I’ve taken a lot away from the analysis and am focused for 2024.

The Journey of Being a Family Photographer:

Whew! I heard it from several other family photographers, but bookings were down more than normal this year. However, I used this opportunity to shoot several model calls and keep growing as an artist and photographer. I experimented with becoming an all film photographer…it worked in some ways, and didn’t in others. I also went to my first family photography retreat and signed up for another one in 2024.

Business:

Each year, I’m reminded that there is so much more to owning a sustainable photography business than just being a family photographer. This fall, I conceded to the fact that I was having a hard time keeping MGP afloat as a solopreneur. Wearing all the hats to keep things going wasn’t working anymore. I’m not complaining, every job is stressful…I just have a blog to process mine. Hehe! 🙂  

So I have hired some very part-time help to help manage certain aspects of the business in 2024. So if you see new names around here, that’s why. Hopefully this proves to be my best decision yet!

Please keep sharing photos from sessions, tagging Meredith Green Photography and spreading my name to as a DFW family photographer! Referrals are my #1 source of new clients!

This year, I had more clients reply after they received their galleries telling me what they liked about the experience or why their images meant so much to them. This feedback means so much to me, so thank YOU!

Last Thing:

Going forward, sessions are going to be a hybrid of digital and film formats (unless it’s specifically advertised as an all film or all digital session). I love film and am primarily going to shoot with it. At the same time, I appreciate some of the features digital offers as well. Each session is unique based on lighting, kids and time, so it’s nice to have the flexibility and options.
